A new book by New York Post reporter Isabel Vincent, "RFK Jr." chronicles the transformation of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. from an addict to drugs and an environmental lawyer. The book is based on Kennedy's diaries from 1999 to 2001, which Vincent obtained in 2013 from a source close to his former wife, Mary Richardson Kennedy, who died by suicide in 2012 during a divorce battle with Kennedy. The diaries contain references to his infidelities during his marriage, but also show a man trying to live up to the legacy of his storied Democratic political family. The Department of Health and Human Services did not respond to questions about whether the diaries are authentic and whether Kennedy is aware of Vincent's book.
