The city of north Tulsa is recovering from severe weather that included an EF-1 tornado, which left significant damage to homes, businesses, and property. The impacted area stretches from East 54th Street North south to the northern edge of the Gilcrease Expressway and from North Lewis Avenue west to North Hartford Avenue. The city is offering special green waste collection for people within the designated damage area, with tree limbs and brush eligible for pickup, but roofing shingles, fencing, trash and tree stumps not included in the program. The Tulsa Financial Empowerment Center is offering free one-on-one financial counseling for residents navigating the costs of recovery. Homeowners with damage may also qualify for emergency repair grants through the city for urgent safety issues such as roof damage, broken windows or electrical hazards.
