Karl-Anthony Towns, the Knicks' All-Star center, is performing the best defense of his career, according to a recent post-game press conference at Madison Square Garden. Towns, who has been questioned about his offensive performance and shot attempts, has been a standout defensive player for the Knicks, particularly in their first-round playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks. He added to his playoff tally with two more blocks and two more steals in the Knicks’ 29-point Game 5 victory over the Hawks. Towns had 12 blocks and 13 steals total over the course of the Knicks's Eastern Conference Finals run under head coach Tom Thibodeau last season. He is already up to nine blocks and seven steals in his first five playoff games this season under Mike Brown. Despite criticism about his defensive game, Towns believes his understated defensive game is one of his best assets.
