Refiners say new US biofuel quotas may worsen Iran war price spike

The Trump administration has ordered U.S. refiners to increase the amount of biofuels they blend into gasoline and diesel, a move that the industry argues will increase pump prices due to the Iran war. The move caused a public rift between President Donald Trump's White House and oil companies, which have traditionally supported his efforts to bolster the fossil fuel sector. The American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) said the rule would make things far worse for consumers. The National Corn Growers Association welcomed the announcement, while the Renewable Fuels Association said it had wanted 100% of waived volumes to be reallocated. The EPA also announced that foreign fuels and feedstocks will only receive half of the RINs of American-made products starting in 2028.
