The Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) has blocked ChatGPT on school networks and devices due to safety concerns over new features on GPT-5.3. The district argues that the group chat function could potentially lead to bullying and hate speech, while the adult mode allows users to create explicit images without age verification. The ban is not an anti-AI stance, but any new technology students can access on BVSD devices will undergo evaluation. The school district is currently using MagicSchool, an AI platform designed for educational use, to monitor students' behavior and flag flagging inappropriate comments.
