Missing College Student Found Dead After Authorities Discovered Her Abandoned Car

Melissa Oelke, a 21-year-old college student from St. Peters, Missouri, went missing on March 26 and was last seen wearing an olive‑green hooded sweatshirt, denim jeans, and black athletic shoes. The car she was driving was later found abandoned in St. Jacob, Ill. Police issued a missing persons’ bulletin for Oalke, stating that she has several medical conditions that require attention and there is concern for her well-being. On Saturday, March 28, Oelkes was found dead in Madison County, Ill., the same county where the abandoned car was found. An online fundraiser in memory of Oelk has raised more than $25,000.
