Online sales tax proposal heads to St. Louis County ballots

The St. Louis County Council has approved a proposal to place the use tax on out-of-state purchases in 2026. The tax would be applied to purchases made from out-country retailers, not currently subject to local tax. The proposal could generate up to $100 million annually. However, one councilman, David Hendry, argued that the county should instead focus on controlling its own spending.
