The family of the UMass congressional intern murdered in Washington, Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, is planning to host a fishing derby in his honor, just days before he was supposed to graduate. The family is partnering with the state in hosting the event, which will include a free fishing clinic and adaptive equipment for those with disabilities. The event is set for Saturday, May 9 at Hampton Ponds State Park in Westfield. The fishing derby will be held by the family, who have not been able to plan a graduation party. DNA evidence has linked two of the three teenagers charged in Eric's death to the shooting.
