Christopher "Crany" Laney, a Los Angeles County man, has been sentenced to 14 years and six months in federal prison for using a drone to deliver drugs, including a fatal dose of fentanyl. Laney had previously pleaded guilty to distribution of fentanyl and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. He arranged to sell $80 worth of fentanyl to a person via text message in January 2023, using the drone to transport and distribute the drugs. The drug was then distributed to a woman named J.
