New research from BrightEdge has revealed that Google's AI Overviews (AIO) coverage has expanded significantly since its launch, with a 58% increase from February 2025 to February 2026. The education sector saw the largest expansion in queries triggering AI search results, rising from 18% of queries in May 2025 to 83% in December 2025. B2B Technology queries also saw a significant increase, growing from 36% to 82%. Restaurants saw a rise in AIO results, with restaurants seeing their number increase from 10% to 78%. Despite these growth, classic search results are still spawning at a rate of 52% of all queries. Despite these expansion, AI Overview's still dominates the results page, with nearly half of all tracked queries still triggering traditional organic results.
