Disneyland has introduced facial recognition technology at its gates in an effort to reduce ticket and pass fraud. Some lines to enter Disneyland and California Adventure now require a biometric photo comparison of their faces. The technology is optional, and there are also lines that take photos of customer's faces but do not scan them for face recognition. Disney hopes this technology will help prevent visitors from handing off their passes or tickets to another person on reentry. Privacy experts have raised concerns about what companies plan to use the facial data, how long they plan to keep it, whether they will repurpose or sell it, and if it will be shared with law enforcement.
