The first day of the 2026 Alaska State 1A Boys Basketball Tournament saw two top-seeded teams win, with Minto defeating No. 16 Emmonak 76-40 and advancing to the quarterfinals. The Lakers, who believe they have one of the best players in the state in Jonathan David, will face No. 9 King Cove at 4:45 p.m. on Court 2. The reigning state champion Shaktoolik also won, defeating the Chief Ivan Blunka Eagles 98-62. The Wolverines will face Northern Lights and the Skagway Panthers in the next round.
