Chris Cron, a Nashville-based vocalist who performs in the Beach Boys tribute group Pet Sounds Live, has been discovered as the newest member of the band. He was contacted by Beach Boys musical director Brian Eichenberger about retiring Bruce Johnston, who has played over 6,000 shows with them over the past 61 years. Cron's Instagram feed is filled with videos recreating vintage Beach Boys harmonies, mimicking the unique vocal styles of each member. He proved himself a valuable asset to the current Beach Boys lineup when he briefly replaced Christian Love on vocals and guitar last year. Cron started his career in 2000 with the indie-rock project Mêlée before signing a deal with Warner Bros. and eventually finding a regular gig with the Israeli software company Simply Sing and Simply Guitar.
