The Vera C. Rubin Observatory, a year old, has discovered over 11,000 new asteroids and captured over 80,000 known asteroids. The observatory's latest batch included 33 previously unknown near-Earth objects, accounting for only around 40% of all data. The discoveries are available in the Rubin Orbitviewer. Scientists believe this is just the start of the exploration; once completed, they expect an additional 90,000 additional asteroids to be captured. The Vera Rubin Observatory is a 27.5-foot (8.4-meter) wide telescope at Cerro Pachon, Chile, and its unique observational capabilities have opened the door to discoveries that previously took years or decades to discover.
