Anchorage Assembly Midtown candidate Janice Park is leading opponent Dave Donley by 47 votes, which is likely to trigger an automatic recount. According to city code, the municipal clerk must begin a recount within seven days of the election certification if a candidate wins by less than a 0.5% margin. Park, with 5,015 votes, held 46.6% of the votes cast. Donley received 4,968 votes, or 46.1%. The elections team has processed all ballots received through election night and will continue to count mail-in ballots and those that are cured before the Public Session of Canvass, an April 23 meeting where preliminary rejected ballots are reviewed by the Election Commission. An automatic recount of the Assembly District 4 race will take place on April 24.
