Washington's contributions to the Orion spacecraft on Artemis II mission

Dozens of Washington-based companies helped build the technical components for the Artemis II mission. Karman Space and Defense in Mukilteo produced components for Orion capsule carrying the astronauts, including the hatch release release mechanisms, propulsion technology, and other components. L3Harris in Redmond also provided components to power the launch from the Kennedy Space Station, secure astronaut communications, and provide breathable air storage. The Artemis II crew successfully adjusted the spacecraft's orbital path for a milestone set for 8 p.m. EST Thursday.
