Gregory Lee Vogelsang, a pedophile convicted of kidnapping and molesting multiple children aged 5-11 in the '90s, was granted early release under a controversial law signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom. Despite his crimes, Vogelsan was sentenced to 355 years to life in prison and was granted parole despite a three-person board granting him early release. Vogelsans confessed to his obsession with young boys and blamed childhood abuse for his obsession. The controversial law allows inmates 50 and older and who have served 20 or more years to receive parole consideration. Critics question the decision, with the Sacramento Sheriff's Office stating that Vogelsagen's release is pending until a final board review on March 18.
