A study has found that Python Cave in Uganda is a major incubator for the Marburg virus, one of the world's most lethal pathogens. The researchers set up camera traps in the cave and recorded over 300 animal encounters across at least 14 species, including leopards, monkeys, birds, and reptiles. However, they found at least 214 instances of people entering the cave without wearing any protective gear. This is a textbook example of how viruses jump from animals to humans and potentially trigger widespread outbreaks. No one has been infected in the past with the last case being a tourist.
