The former church of the 128-year-old landmark in Warrensburg, Missouri, was recently vandalized by spray-painted and covered in graffiti. The Warren Street Methodist Episcopal Church was founded in 1898 by Black Union soldiers and formerly enslaved people and was a central community for decades. The church has fallen into disrepair since it closed in 2008 and is now owned by a woman who lives in Washington State. The graffiti, which does not appear to include racial or hate speech, has been condemned by members of the charge of vandalism. Robert Forbush, who attended the church, said the actions of those who deface God's house like this would deface the building of God.
