Google's Android XR glasses, a wearable prototype for its wearable prototype frames, have been introduced at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona as a promising solution to navigation issues. The glasses, which lack a display on the right lens, were shown to be more intuitive and engaging than expected. The feature that sold me was the Google Maps demo, showing how far I would need to go before turning right and a visualization of the route, similar to that seen in the Maps app on a mobile device. The audio quality was comparable to headphones and aural quality, without feeling something in or on my ears. Google has also tapped this AI tech for real-time translation on its Pixel 10 phones, enabling for real time translation on a call with someone speaking a different language. However, there are still some instances in which users can see subtle overlay of answers from an AI assistant like Gemini.
