HBO has beefed up security around its "Harry Potter" reboot after actor Paapa Essiedu was targeted with death threats over his role as Professor Snape on the show. The studio saw the backlash coming and implemented measures early, including training on social media etiquette and a serious security team. The new series, set for release in 2027, is already embroiled in controversy over creator JK Rowling's views on transgender issues and her portrayal of Snape as a white character in the films. Despite calls from supporters to fire Essiede, the actor has not reported any online threats.
