Readers respond: Even EVs aren’t ‘good’ transportation

A recent article by a reader suggested that electric vehicles (EV) vehicles are better than traditional methods of transporting, but they are not yet "good" transportation. The electricity they use depends on a combination of solar, wind, hydroelectric dams and natural gas turbines, which can cause environmental issues such as carbon dioxide. The increased demand for power can strain an already weak infrastructure and is vulnerable to hackers. While battery technology is advancing, current EV batteries are not a good long-term solution.
