UK Prosecutors Charge Syrian Air Force Intelligence Officer With Torture, Murder

A former Syrian Air Force Intelligence Officer, Salem Al-Salem, has been charged with multiple murders and crimes against humanity related to demonstrations against the Assad regime in 2011 and 2012. The charges were denied by the UK's chief magistrate, who also rejected a request for the identity of the suspect to be kept secret. The suspect, who lives in Britain, appeared on a videolink from his home for the hearing.
