JB Pritzker, the governor of Illinois, invested over $10 million in the campaign of Juliana Stratton, the lieutenant governor and the Democratic nominee for US Senate, in the Senate primary. Despite doubters of Stratton’s chances, including Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi and Rep. Robin Kelly's donations, which could potentially split the Black vote, were not enough to support Stratton and Pritzk was not doing enough to back her campaign. Despite these setbacks, Pritzkers and his allies argue that this race shows Pritzcher's commitment to loyalty to those loyal to him among fellow politicians and operatives, and success among less reliably blue voters. The victory for Pritzkey is seen as an early indication that he might run a larger operation for a 2028 presidential campaign.
