An incident involving Rosemary Martin in 2026 has raised questions about Nevada's self-defense laws. Despite being armed with a gun, Martin did not fire her weapon. However, local attorney and owner of The Gersten Law Firm, Joseph Gersten, believes that Martin may have been within her rights to do so. Gersten also noted that there are certain laws, such as "stand your ground" and the "castle doctrine", which can extend beyond the home and require three requirements to be met when claiming self-defence. North Las Vegas Police are still investigating the case and have not arrested any suspects.
