Troy Coleman, a local group of veterans in South Louisiana, has started Hero Hunts, which provides mental health support through outdoor activities. The group uses these activities to connect veterans with each other and remind them they are not fighting alone. The outdoor activities include fishing trips, cooking, and providing support for nursing home vets who are in wheelchairs. The approach has been successful in helping veterans understand their experiences. Since joining, Vietnam veteran Dudley Connor has been able to use his story to help others. The nonprofit is available through Lifeline 988 and the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
