Spectrum, a provider of mobile, internet, and cable TV services operated by Charter Communications, is losing customers rapidly due to rising internet bills. The company lost 120,000 internet customers in Q1 2025, compared to 59,000 in Q2 2025. This comes after Spectrum raised prices on several older internet plans in July last year and some customers were notified of a rate hike in January. A survey from Reviews.org found that 73% of Americans saw their internet bills rise this year, with 30% seeing monthly increases of $10 to $20. Furthermore, 67% have switched or considered switching internet providers due to hidden or unexpected charges (up from 56% last year). Charter Chief Financial Officer Jessica Fischer attributed these losses to increased competition in the broadband industry. Wireless providers like AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile have reported increased demand for their fixed wireless internet services.
