A desert community in Arizona recorded the hottest-ever March temperature in the US, reaching 110 degrees. The record-breaking temperature was recorded near Martinez Lake, an unincorporated community in the Yuma Desert. This comes as an unrelenting heatwave sweeps across the West Coast, with several cities experiencing their hottest March day in four decades. Phoenix, where temperatures reached 101 degrees, closed hiking trails and urged the public to avoid strenuous activity that could cause heat-related illnesses. Meanwhile, North Shore, California, tied a US record when the mercury reached 108 degrees, and Las Vegas inched up to 99 degrees, breaking its previous record of 93 degrees set in 2022.
