President Donald Trump has expanded sanctions on Cuba, accusing it of aligning itself with countries and actors hostile to the United States. The sanctions target individuals and entities that support Cuba's government and security apparatus and are complicit in government corruption or serious human rights violations. The names of those targeted were not immediately clear. The order also singles out individuals, banks, and organizations that have made transactions with those targeted. It alleges that Cuba has maintained "close ties" with major state sponsors of terrorism and has provided a safe haven for terrorist groups such as Hezbollah.
