The Bay Area Air District has fined Anheuser-Busch $2.3 million for multiple air quality violations at its Fairfield plant. The penalty was primarily due to the company incorrectly installing and operating emissions monitoring equipment. Tests revealed elevated hydrogen sulfide levels in the facility's Biogas, which can lower air quality and harm public health. The company has since closed the facility and does not acknowledge any wrongdoing. All employees at the facility were offered other jobs. The money will be allocated to use for projects that reduce air pollution and improve public health in affected communities.
