Doctors warn about ‘gas station heroin’ sold over the counter in Arizona

Doctors are warning about a substance, 7-OH, a component derived from kratom, which acts like an opioid and can be purchased over the counter at vape stores across Arizona without an ID. The product is available in packages and is marketed as a natural way to relax and can easily be purchased in less than five minutes without an identification. John Koch, director of community relations at Community Medical Services, said the number of people seeking treatment for 7-OO addiction is increasing and insurance is covering addiction treatment for the substance. The FDA has expressed concern over the availability of these products and is particularly concerned about concentrated 7-OP products.
