Maryland Gov. Wes Moore is set to host AI executives from Microsoft and other tech companies for dinner at his official mansion in Annapolis to discuss how to protect the state from cyberattacks in the "Mythos era." The private conversation provides a glimpse into how state officials are dealing with the benefits and threats of AI, which is likely to be a key issue in the 2028 presidential race. Since Anthropic's new model, Claude Mythos Preview, poses such massive cybersecurity risks that it can't be released to the public. Moore has been holding private conversations about AI with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei over the last year. He believes the U.S. government has failed to manage AI, forcing states to step in.
