New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole has made his first minor league rehab start since Tommy John surgery, where he gave up three runs over 4 1/3 innings for Double-A Somerset in his first major league game since his diagnosis of Tommy John. The right-hander threw 36 of his 44 pitches for strikes and allowed three hits, including a two-run homer and one walk, while striking out three. In the same game, Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe went 1 for 2 with a single and a walk and scored twice and stole a base. Three-time All-Star Carlos Rodón is set to face hitters again in live batting practice at Somerset and is expected to begin a rehab assignment next week. Cole is signed to a $324-year contract with the Yankees through 20 starts.
