Seidler Family Announces Agreement To Sell Padres To Billionaire

The Seidler family has announced an agreement to sell the San Diego Padres to billionaire businessman Kwanza Jones and billionaire José Feliciano. The sale price was reportedly $3.9 billion, the highest for a Major League Baseball team. The previous record was $2.4 billion for Steve Cohen's purchase of the New York Mets in 2020. The family had owned the Padres since 2012 and began exploring strategic options in November. This sale was subject to approval by Major League baseball and customary closing conditions. The Padres have never won a World Series championship.
