American Airlines has resumed direct flights from the US to Venezuela for the first time in nearly a decade, following the US's overthrow of dictator Nicolas Maduro. The flight took off from Miami and was expected to land in Caracas by the afternoon. The White House celebrated the resumption of flights with a post on X thanking President Trump for his leadership in Operation Absolute Resolve. The US first banned flights to Venezuela in 2019.
