Denver experienced the hottest March day on record on record for the third time in a week, with temperatures reaching the high 80s across the state. The record-breaking 88 degrees at the airport was recorded at 2:50 p.m., breaking the previous monthly record highs of 86 degrees and 85 degrees set by the National Weather Service. The heatwave is due to a large heat dome moving east, which meteorologists and weather historians predict may be one of the most expansive heat waves in American history. Colorado is one of 14 states experiencing their hottest March days this month, with a group of international climate scientists stating that such a significant heatwave would have been prevented without human-induced climate change.
