Franklin T. Houston, a 28-year-old man from Mt. Morris, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for resisting arrest after entering the Oregon Elementary School after school hours to use a bathroom. Houston was found guilty of the Class 4 felony offense of injuring a police officer while resisting arrest and three other officers attempting to arrest him during an incident near the school in 2025. The disorderly conduct charge accused him of alarming the school district’s cheerleading coach when she saw him sitting in a stall of a restroom in a girls locker room. Assistant State’S Attorney Matthew Leisten argued that Houston's behavior put at risk for serious injuries when they tried to detain him. Assistant Ogle County Public Defender Brandon Gecan argued that a sentence of probation was warranted, and that Houston had only entered the school building when he was told to leave.
