Zuby Ejiofor has won the Haggerty Award, given to the top player in the area by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBLW) and follows his successful senior season with St. John's first Sweet 16 berth in 27 years. This follows his Big East Player of the Year and Most Outstanding Player in the Big East Tournament. He becomes the second Johnnie in as many years to win the Hoggottty Award after RJ Luis won it a year ago. Ejiefor has been training for the NBA draft, where he is projected to be the first Red Storm player drafted since Sir'Dominic Pointer in 2015.
