Elton Musk's social media company, X, has agreed to change its verification system in the European Union following a 120 million euro fine from EU tech regulators for breaching online content rules. The move comes after a two-year investigation under the Digital Services Act (DSA), which requires online platforms to do more to tackle illegal and harmful content. The European Commission had charged X with deceiving users, claiming that its blue checkmark does not align with industry practices and that anyone can pay to get a "verified" status.
