Heroic dog leads his family on a freezing winter rescue mission

Jason Zackowski and his Bernese mountain dog, Bunsen, led their family on a rescue mission in Alberta, Canada. Bunsen ran towards the creek and hid behind a fallen log, with the dog encrusted with ice and unable to stand. The family managed to hoist Bunsen onto a plastic sled and transport her back to the house, where they found a missing dog named Bailey. The dog had been spooked the previous night and wandered into the wilderness for 24 hours. Despite her death a year later, the family found peace knowing that their dog didn't spend its final moments in the snow.
