The first boat of the "Nuestra América" humanitarian aid flotilla has arrived in Havana amid a serious energy crisis in Cuba. The aid comes amid a U.S. fuel blockade, which has resulted in seven nationwide blackouts since 2024 due to aging electri plants and a shortage of oil. Critics argue that this effort benefits Cuba's government more than its own citizens. The situation has worsened since President Donald Trump's decision to capture Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro. The first aid shipments from Europe, Latin America and the U.N. have already arrived.
