Data shows a significant drop in Canadian visitors to the US, largely due to political tensions and U.S. government policies, as well as increased interest in American travel. In contrast, American travel to Canada has seen an increase. The decline in Canadian visitor arrivals has been attributed to heightened tensions between the two countries, including President Donald Trump's trade war and branding of the country as the 51st state. The U.K. saw about 4.1 million fewer visitor arrivals from Canada through November 2025 compared to the previous year, a 21.7% drop. In February 2026 alone, there were 1.5 million return trips from the U., a 14.5% drop from the same month in 2025, according to Statistics Canada. A 10% decline in Canada's travel could result in 2.0 million fewer visits, $2.1 billion in lost spending and 14,000 job losses for the American economy.
