A deadly shooting in the East Village has raised concerns about safety at neighborhood bodegas. The incident occurred just before midnight Saturday near 216 Sal’s Deli and Grocery. Two 28-year-old men, Abdul Saleh and another unidentified person, were rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where Saleh was pronounced dead and the other person is expected to survive. The United Bodegas of America is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction. The violence comes just days after another shooting at a Bronx deli, adding to growing fears about safety in neighborhood businesses.
