State Sen. Katie Muth has requested an investigation into PECO over a proposed rate hike, stating that the company's intentions are to increase infrastructure to attract more data centers. The proposal would increase electric rates by 12.5% and 11.4% starting in 2027. This would cost more than two million families around the Philly region an additional $20.08 per month for electricity and $14.52 for natural gas. Muth's letter also demands local public hearings to give residents a voice in the process.
