Garrett Crochet, the Red Sox ace, allowed six runs over five innings in his final spring start in a 6-1 loss to the Atlanta Braves. He was particularly challenged by Braves third baseman Austin Riley, who hit a solo home run and two doubles. Over the past four spring starts, Crochet allowed 12 earned runs over 14 2/3 innings, giving up 15 hits, three walks, two hit batsman and recording eight strikeouts. Newly signed reliever Tommy Kahnle made his team debut and is considered a strong contender for a spot in the bullpen.
