Utah GOP urges voters to unseat state Supreme Court justices

The Utah Republican Party is urging voters to oust two state Supreme Court justices in the upcoming midterm elections. The tension between the judiciary and the Republican-controlled executive and legislative branches is high due to a series of unfavorable rulings. The Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission, which reviews appointed judges for retention, reviews them on legal ability, integrity, judicial temperament, and procedural fairness. This comes amidst ongoing investigations into a conflict of interest between Utah Gov. Spencer Cox, Senate President Stuart Adams and House Speaker Mike Schultz.
