Thousands of educators from across North Carolina are expected to rally in downtown Raleigh for higher school employee pay and more school funding. The rally, "Kids Over Corporations," is being held by the North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE) and aims for a 25% increase in pay for school employees and $20,000 per student spending per student by 2030, which would require more than $10 billion in new funding based on about 1.5 million students in traditional public and public charter schools. The Senate and House are at odds on passing a budget for the current fiscal year, with the House proposing an average raise of 8.7% over two years and the Senate offering an average increase of 3.3% to teachers.
