Amazon is set to launch its Prime Air drone delivery service in Baton Rouge this summer. The service will allow customers to get small items delivered within one to two hours. The company will use autonomous drones that can reach speeds of over 70mph. Amazon's principal of Prime Air, Jeff Cleland, said the service could help families get essentials quickly and could potentially reduce traffic. The drones will be housed in a new facility near the Cortana warehouse and only customers within a 7.5-mile radius of the drone facility are eligible for drone delivery.
