Demmi Wilson, a mom of three, was diagnosed with idiopathic intracranial hypertension in 2023 after suffering from a five-day headache. The rare condition occurs when cerebrospinal fluid builds up in the skull. Following surgery for a stent to drain the fluid, Wilson experienced vision loss from a build-up of fluid pressure around her brain. However, after the surgery, her vision only worsened. One doctor suggested a weight loss procedure, suggesting that drastic weight loss might reduce the pressure in her brain and remove the stress off her optic nerve. Wilson lost around 120 lbs. She still has vision issues and headaches but has a lower risk of going blind now.
