Racecar driver dead at 66 after seven-car crash

BMW driver Juha Miettinen died following a seven-car crash during an endurance sports car race at the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit in Germany. The accident occurred about 25 minutes into the four-hour race. Despite efforts to save Mietttinen, all attempts to revive him were unsuccessful. The six other drivers involved in the crash were taken to hospital for precautionary examinations, but none were seriously injured. Four-time Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen shared his condolences on his Instagram Story. The race was halted after the accident and will be remembered during Sunday's race.
